Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This company is not the cheapest, but they make fine products like this seat bag, for $29.00.

I like my topeak aero wedge dealie. Good bag, and when I had one of the little bolts strip, they sent me another one within several days for free. Plus, it comes in 3 sizes, I use medium..

Wow, that's about the nicest bag I've seen. To answer the original question, I use a Specialized wedgie which is their smallest bag, but I can get a tube, C02 pump, two cartridges, tire lever, multi-tool, and temporary patches in it. Not easy to close, but nice compact package.

so what do you guys use when you need to carry more than a tube and co2? In the old days I used a handlebar bag but they seem out of vogue now.

I just purchased an Arkel Tailrider to use on my commuter and for long rides on my Specialized road bike. It has enough room for a (tightly packed) change of clothes and lunch in the main compartment and my keys, wallet, badge, glasses, etc. in the side pockets. As an added bonus, it has an integrated rain cover. In all the searching I did, it's the sleekest bag I could find, and probably the most expensive ($75) but for the quality, I'd say it's worth it.

Pedro's blowout bag

This is what I use, I have the 50 cubic inch version and carry alot in it.

2 tubes, patch kit, multi-tool, 2 tire levers, CO2 system with 2 cartridges, and still have enough room that I could put a small cell phone in there if I wanted. I will often put my cell phone in my bento box

Stuff for me goes in my pockets (with exception of water bottles). Stuff for my bike goes on the bike or in the saddlebag.

In the saddlebag or on the bike, I have...

Jandd Mini Mountain Wedge. $11.
Mine is in black. I've got a tube, patch kit, tire levers, inflator and 3 co2 carts crammed in 53in^3. Perfect fit.

Edit: Got the wrong pic.

side question?
Does the SKS Airgun regulate to a certain PSI so you don't have to carry a gauge?

Nice rig btw.

The smaller the better. I am a fan of the Jandd bags. They are pretty good quality, and cheap. Check out this link:

On most of my bikes, I have small handlebar bags, about the size of a loaf of bread. I prefer bags with rigid plastic liners, to prevent sagging when I put a heavy lock in the bag.

I like handlebar bags, because it is convenient to have stuff right in front of me...a lock, phone, keys, camera, rain shell...just grab whatever I need.

Nope. There's a valve to adjust the flow but there's no guage.

I use a Bento Box sometimes when I want to have stuff up front.

Sometimes, I use two Bento Boxes and mount a smaller one near my seatpost.

Anyone know of a saddle bag that doesn't attached to the seatpost? I recently switched seats to a fizik Aliante and soon after noticed that my thighs were rubbing against the velcro that attached my saddle bag to my seatpost. Can't afford new shorts... The bike shop recommended a fizik saddle bag with mounting clip (it's supposed to clip to my seat), but was wondering if there's any other options.

I'm not changing seats-hard enough to find one I liked the first time. And yes, my position is good.

I have the Fizik Arione and use the Headland bag shown in these pics without problem.

If you scroll up to my pictures with the Bento Boxes, you'll notice a Topeak Micro Wedge which I used to use before switching to the Aero Wedge. The Micro Wedge is pretty small though and that's why my spare tube is strapped to the outside. However, it only clips on via the rail mount and doesn't need to be secured to the seatpost. Here's another picture of it.

I use this: https://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FTKB

Given it's stuffed, but I usually carry:

1 road tube
3 tire levers
folding allen key set (metric)
leatherman PSTII
schraeder adpator
2-3 gel packs
2 extra AAA batteries for my taillight

It IS a tight fit, but I'd rahter be prepared, plus it's better there than in my messenger bag.

Since all my cables are external runs, I'm pretty picky about what mounts to my frame...heck it took a few months till I felt comfortable with my niterider's frame mount battery to sit on my toptube..since it interferes with the rear brake slightly...I fixed that by increasing the caliper to rim clearance a bit, since adding the battery pulls on the cable slightly.

Nashbar sells a great bag that attaches to the top tube, and is small. I now have three of them.

I find it more secure and convenient than strap systems.

Like I said, I have switched to the Aero Wedge (scroll back to post #9) but I used to carry everything I currently do in the Aero Wedge but was unable to fit the Speedlevers (didn't have them at the time), the tube (strapped to underside instead), the mini lock (kept in my back jersey pocket instead) and the tools for my wheels (didn't think to take them along but have since bent a spoke and now carry spare spokes too). So the loadout would be:
