Looking for a 1/2 century...

I'd like to find a half-century to enter in a couple of months, mainly for fun, and also to give myself a goal to shoot for. Problem is, I'm having trouble finding any good information on it. I checked bikereg.com, but that seems to be mainly TTs and crits and "races", where I'm looking for a more casual event.

I did find the Santa Fe Century, which is within driving distance, but that's only 3 weeks away, and I don't think I can work up to the mileage in time. My longest ride to date is 22 miles.

Can you guys recommend someplace on the web to do some searching? I live in El Paso, TX, by the way. Thanks!

Try www.bikecenturies.com. Lots of options grouped by regions of the US.

Also you might have better luck finding metric centuries (100K ~= 62mi) which may be more common than half centuries in some places. If you can manage 40 or so miles without great discomfort, you should have no trouble finishing a metric.

If you find a century with and out and back route, just ride out 25 miles, turn around and head back.

You can check www.bicycletexas.com for rides throughout the state. Don't know any near you off the top of my head, but I do remember seeing one west of Midland Odessa. That should be close.
