Dave that's a lot of water lost for your body weight, about 9.5 pounds. I'd start to be concerned about dehydration with anything over around 5% of body weight. Take care with these experiments.

I just weighed a 24 oz bottle and it holds 1.5 lbs of water. I agree that is a lot of loss in 2.5 hours, I usually drink about 24 oz per hour. He said he used 22oz in 2.5 hours. But I read recently that we can "load" about 7 ounces of Glyocogen, and about 3-4 lbs of water load up with it. ? Just re-read on it, every ounce of Glycogen stores 3 oz of water.



Expect some weight gain (~2-4 pounds). For every ounce of glycogen the body also stores 3 ounces of water. Although your muscles may feel a little heavier at the beginning of the race these feelings will subside as the body uses up the glycogen and water throughout the race.
