What's a stiffer Frame? Airborne Valkyrie or Lemond Sarthe?
Greetings,
I'm sure both of these bikes possess plenty of BB stiffness for my capabilities; however which bike would help produce the most pedal efficiency on a nice long, steep climb?
Both bikes are dead sexy. I'm just trying to determine if the ti ride is worth the extra cash outlay.
This forum rocks hard!
I look forward to your replies!!
Layta,

Maybe, but maybe not.
I'm interested in people's thoughts, be it based on first hand knowledge of these bikes, or just their impressions based on visual assessment. I'm just a dude looking for answers.
What about you, brother? What's your opinion?

Sydney,
I would love to go ride 'em, but I can't. That's why I'm posting a general query. There are knowlegable people on this forum that I'm sure could provide some insightful, useful, non-lame information.
I maybe reading you wrong, Sydney, but your 'lame' comments seem to be coming off as both very cynical and condescending.
Chill out, dude and rock on!

unless you test both frames in the lab, there's no objective answer and sydney is right.
moreover, there are so many variables that any subjective answers you get could well be contradictory.
my guess is that the differences are probably minimal unless you're very overweight or very, very strong and prone to push big gears or both.
buy the one that fits. if they both fit and, all things being equal, buy on colour.

If you can't get your hands on both of them, you are out of luck. There is a rough and dirty side by side comparison that you can do.
Stand next to the bike and hold the handlebars and saddle. Tilt the bike away from you. With the pedal at the bottom of the stroke, put your foot on it and flex the frame. If they are much different, you will be able to feel it. Your foot is able to tell pressure differances fairly well. That is how we modulate brakes on cars. By pressure, not stroke.

You're going to get a lot of flex out of the rim doing this. You'll still be in the dark about frame stiffness. I hate that Sydney is right.

Allow me to add my lame comment. The Litespeed frienze is alittle less than valk (I think) and you might be able to find and test a litespeed locally.
