Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SiDi Genius 5 Fit Carbon Road shoes fit

Hello,

I went from Giro shoes to the SiDi Genius 5 and the SiDi fit perfectly besides my heel. When I walk, my heel tries to pull out of the shoe. I have not tried them on the bike yet, so I don't damage them and can return them. Just wondering if this is normal and will not be an issue on the bike (which seems like it would).

Thank you in advance. And yes...I ordered them online.

Juan

So your heel "tries" to pull out of the shoe, but doesn't? In that case, you're probably okay. The stiffness of the sole will cause your heel to lift when walking, as opposed to normal walking shoes which flex with your foot as you walk. As long as it still fits snugly at the heel and your foot isn't actually lifting out, the fit should be okay.

Thank you for the reply. I guess the heel does lift a little when I walk. It does not fully come out of the shoe, but just gets off the insole as I walk. The soles are definitively stiffer than on my Giro shoes, maybe that is what I am not used to. I guess I should try them on the bike and see how the go. Other than that, they fit like a glove!

I've got a narrow heel and had the same issue. I replaced the inner sole with one with a thicker heel pad and my heels no longer slip.

Same here. These are too wide for my heel, and I can't recall having that issue with any other shoe... ever.

I can still use them without trouble, though.

I just got a pair of gaerne shoes with same thing. But when I am on the bike they are ok. I do have to snug them down decently though
