Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Today's adventure ride!

Today I did a little exploring outside my usual ride. Found a cool system of BLM roads. Trying to extend my idea of what road biking can be, inspired by the Randonneurs of the world.
My adventure companion

The usual

Dropping into the BLM roads

Fun downhill on dirt

End of the road???

Until next time anyway.

A great way to unwind after a too fast 50 mile trainer yesterday in hill country. I rode with someone way above my fitness level, haha.

Thanks... about the saddle, I have a Brooks pro and a Selle Italia titanium, but i just prefer the B-17 so much more so i leave it on. Plus when i say training, I'm training for centuries and brevets, not races. This bike may get a more racing oriented double group soon at which point I will drop the bars to a more aggressive position and consider a different saddle. I like this bike for training and long distance fast rides. But until i get a bike that fills the role of commuter/adventure randonneur, this one has to do it with its cozy saddle, upright position, small rear rack, and triple group. its such a fun bike, and I could fit 32s if i keep riding this style of riding.

oh man, the Selle Italia is just laying around eh? lol.. Those old Brooks saddles are rumored to be pretty comfy... yeah, you've converted it to a pretty solid looking Randy Bike for sure...
