Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

well, we've had an amazing round of bad news lately.

needless to say, i went out on a ride last night and just poured all my frustrations and pent up anger into the pedals. my calves started cramping but that just made me ride faster. i really pushed myself and in turn logged the fastest time i've ever ridden on my usual route. it was a level of riding i've never done before. after a while the burning lungs and legs just stopped hurting and everything smoothed out. i must of looked like a manaic and i'm sure i had drool coming out of my mouth at some points, but it sure made me feel better.

just think if you could bottle adrenalin and take it as needed....amazing stuff indeed.

Cyclist high?....when i use to run cross country and track and field...long distance...there was a point where all the pain went away and you could almost not feel each stride...we called it "runners high"...it just felt like you were a machine, sride after stride...llike a zone....has not happen to me on a bike yet...but then again i have not pushed it that hard yet...

I was almost knocked off by a careless driver last year. After stopping for a short 'discussion' with him I rode off, pumped with adrenaline, and absolutely flew!

If I ever race, I'll have someone attack me with a knife just before the start. Though i guess just being on the start-line of a race would get the adrenaline going anyway ...

I used to ride with a guy who always left early in the morning, like 4 or 5 AM. We could never get over how much easier it was riding in the dark, it was like you just always had more energy. I guess that was adrenaline.

Wow drool, never had to exprience that yet!

Ive had times when my cousin challenges me to a sprint and just takes off and I just go, I get in the drops and just fly. Im always worried because when I do this my front wheel can come off the ground some times more than 2 inches
