Speed:Comfort of Models
In this thread, share what level of priority you think your bike (or models you have experience with) has with speed vs comfort.
:twitchy:Speed = snappy stiffness that gives you that rush (and feeling on you buttocks) :rolleyes:Comfort = smooth handling that lets you look at the beautiful sights while riding (but when there aren't pretty sights :notamused:) And for a format, use a 1-10 number for speed & comfort, but both numbers MUST add to 10. s+c=10 *i know some bikes are faster & comfier than others, but this is about focus of design. I felt my Fuji Altamira was 7 on speed & 3 on comfort. Surprisingly cozy for such a racer, but there are faster bikes. |
Speed = 9
Comfort = 1 Carbon fiber seat (not really extra speed though) 23mm/25mm over 100 psi at 150# Negative 9? degree stem, slammed to the headset |

Speed:7
Comfort:3 I want something comfortable, but I dont want a slow porker either. I have a Surly Crosscheck which is a 7 in comfort but 3 in speed, so my Cervelo R3 is naturally the opposite. My titanium is more of a 6-4 split (speed to comfort) |

I'm sure you have more experience than me, owning the R3. But I remember it being definately 9:1 or 8:2 at the least! (Instead of 7:3 like you implied)

Comfort is having a proper fit, not a three foot tall headtube and balloon tires. And my average MPH has never changed between bikes.
