I have had several Assos bibs and have washed them with normal detergent (Tide) with no problems and also put them through the dryer with the rest of my clothes with no adverse effect. In terms of sweat I would recommend that you thoroughly rinse the shorts in cold water before putting them into the wash with emphasis on soaking the chamois and squeezing it line a sponge multiple times. You might also add some baking soda to your wash for odor control. Key is to rinse out your most of your sweat before putting it through a wash cycle.

That is a remarkable reply. With just five words the poster achieves a rare instance of semantic confusion and mixed messaging.
Is he admitting to being both sarcastic and dumb?
Or is he calling me dumb?
The smiley does not help either way.
Perhaps the poster should listen to his own advice and ride more and post less.

Ironic that you have chosen to take issue with my postings to your thread given my initial post provided genuine feedback to your initial inquiry and subsequent responses were directed at rpenmaparker and stansteven. I can assure you that Robert and Stansteven (regular thick skinned posters on this board) are not losing any sleep over my responses.
Your meek sensibilities are ill suited for this board. Effin grow a pair. Cheers .

And with the inevitable smiley, as fitting as a turd in a sugar bowl. Hilarious.

Perhaps your own words will succeed where mine have failed:

Also depends on the washer. We just got a new low-flow, water conserving, washing machine that doesn't nearly get the stink out as well as our old water bucket washer. I have stuff that actually comes out of the washer now with dry spots.

Stinky clothes? Soak in a baking soda solution, then wash. removes artificial scents, too.

It doesn't get the soap out to well either, even with extra rinse, there's still soap bubbles stuck at the door area, I doubt the chamois gets a good soaking with these washers.

Far from unique, this place. Internet anonymity lets people be their rude selves without significantly bad consequences. Nothing new.

You want to remove stink? throw a small amount of bleach in with the wash cycle. it won't be enough to eat the material, but it will kill the bacteria. works for me. i also use Woolite for dark colors.

Store & Wash - ASSOS of Switzerland
[h=1]Wash[/h]
- Washing a garment means putting stress on fabric and seams! Therefore, wash cycling garments separately from other clothes / accessories to prevent friction.
- Before washing, turn the garments inside out (seams on the outside).
- Machine-wash is possible but always use a wash bag, a delicate cycle and lukewarm water (max. 30° C).
- Do not use bleachers and/or softeners. Use a mild liquid detergent only (e.g. ASSOS active wear cleanser).
- Do not soak, wring or rub. Do not spin after washing. To remove excess water from your garment gently squeeze by hand.
- Dry garments flat or hanging, but do not tumble dry.

I even use a girly lingerie bag to wash my bibs (Assos).
Amazon.com - Lingerie Bags for Laundry - Ultra Fine, Zippered, Mesh Wash Bag Protects Delicates - Expensive Blouses, Hosiery, Bras and Underwear From Other Clothes in the Washer - No More Snags, Knotting or Napping Caused By Washing Even in Delicate
Wash with warm water, with Woolite for darks in the lingerie bag.
They come out clean and the bag keeps the bibs from being stretched out in the washing machine.

I always soak my jerseys and baselayers in a very mild Borax solution for about half an hour prior to wash, as this gets rid of the sweat odor. I always hand wash all my cycling kits, including Assos jerseys and bib shorts. And I don't use the Assos magic detergent either. I always use Costco's Free and Clear (no dyes, no perfume) for all my washes, because I just can't stand perfumed detergents. One other thing I do is to gather all my cycling kits and other athletic/gym wears (once a month), toss them in the washer with Penguin Sport-Wash (cold wash), do a double rinse, then hang dry.
My kits and gym cloths last a long time this way.

I rinse the chamois after each ride with cold water, squeeze the water out and hang to dry, and wash them once a week. I ride six days a week.
