Crashed on Sunday and my Specialized Propero II did it's job. I really like the Propero, great fit, great cooling, looks great and I like the straps. Before I replace it with another Propero I was wondering if anyone else has worn both the Propero and the S3? S3 has more vents and is a few grams (big whoop) lighter. I haven't tried it on yet but thought I'd ask for input from others. I know a few will say try this one or that one, but I really like and am satisfied with Specialized helmets so I'm sticking with them. I've had Giro, Bell and I also have a Bontrager but my favorite is the Specialized (this will be my 2nd Spesh crash replacement so I know they serve me well). Looks like I'll have some time to think about it since the wrist took the worst of the crash and I might be off the bike for a few weeks. But on the bright side how many people have their sling signed by Jens Voigt in an Irish bar?

Only suggestion I can make is to try it on, the s3 did not have as good of a shape for my head and wasn't as comfortable as my older Specialized helmet. I don't have exactly the same head shape as you of course though. :-)

The difference for me was the weight. The S3 feels much lighter on your head. The dial is smaller and the helmet straps are more comfortable on the S3.

I've been using the S-Works Prevail...and so far...that's been the most comfortable helmet I've used.

Prevail is a little pricey for me and from what I've read the S3 is about 10 grams heavier and that's it supposedly. I think the Prevail, S3 & Propero all have the same flat web straps, I love the single thin strap on the Propero. Thanks for the input.

i use an S3. its vented so well, sits a bit high though. crazy adjustable and easy to wear other caps under it with a quick minor adjusgment. also light and stays in place

Thanks and yes I noticed it sits a little high but not much different than the Propero I feel. I bought the S3 Saturday, getting the 20% crash replacement discount (again). Sucks though, it might be 3 months before I need it again since I'm getting a MRI next week on the wrist. Doc suspects a fractured navicular bone in the wrist.

I tried on just about every Giro, Specialized, and Bell helmet at various LBS and the one that ended up fitting my head the best (without looking giant/silly) was actually a Specialized Tactic II. Definitely not the one I thought I'd end up with but I like it. Be sure to try a bunch on before making a decision.
