SRAM groupset with Shimano wheels?

What are the general thoughts on mixing groupsets? People seem to be very proprietary with their brands I am learning. I want to improve upon the stock wheels that came on my bike, and I keep getting recommended the Shimano Dura Ace 9000 C35. I have SRAM Red 22 groupset currently on my Cannondale Synapse Hi-Mod. Very pleased with SRAM, and if there was a brand loyalty, it would be there to some extent.

What are people's general opinions of this mixing and matching and what are "The Rules". I have just learned quickly as I get out and ride with groups everyone seems to have vocal opinions on everything visible on my bike.

Thanks

Do it if you like, some people oppose for ocd.

Every part on my bike is hand selected. For instance...

My left brifter is a shimano because the FD shifts better with Rotor Q-Rings while my right brifter is a SRAM Red shifting a SRAM red rear derailleur with a SRAM 1190 cassette and Dura-Ace chain.

If you get the wheels get some Campy bottle cages to go with it... maybe you'll give a stroke to anyone that would be upset about you mixing and matching. I ran Rival and C24's for years... ride what you want...

Just get Fulcrum or Zipp

Wheels are not part of a groupset. Mix away.

The only thing to worry about matching is cable pull.

I have a SRAM Force group and Ultegra 6800 hubs. My bike hasn't self destructed. The color of the Ultegra hubs actually match the Force's RD quite nicely.

There may be some compatibility issues with older shimano rear hubs and SRAM cassettes, but I'm not sure.

Don't ever ride your bike to the fishing hole. That Shimano reel will never go with it.

You could get SRAM S80 wheels. Wasn't there some stupid thread here a couple years ago about how a guy got those and became absolutely convinced the wheels were making him 5mph faster all the time or something? Can't find it via search. Gotta say, the SRAM wheel graphics are just about the ugliest things out there.

This made one of my Campaphile teammates quite upset, but it worked fine and no carbon asploded.

I have Campy Record 11 shifters, brakes and rear mech. Sram Red Crank, front Mech, chain and cogset on Shimano C24 wheels. Whole thing works great. No OCD here. I carefully selected this setup for... reasons.

Use whatever works, as long as it works.

I suppose you could get Zipp wheels, they're pretty nice. And owned by SRAM.

Your carbon frame will asplode if you mix sram, shimano, or campy together.

Appreciate the responses.

Obviously just my opinion, I think that style of Shimano crankset is the ugliest thing out there.
