Anyone ever climbed a hill so steep..
That every pedal stroke in granny gear lifted the front wheel? Yep, thought I was gonna die.

Fargo in Los Angeles!

Fargo looks gnarly!! I might have to try that one!
This looks pretty gnarly too....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vepam0d-zH0 |
There's a climb I do regularly that jumps from single to double digit grades really quickly, my wheel often pops up for a minute in the transition.

My driveway peaks at about 17%. Fortunately it is short, but it is still good enough to take my breath away. Positioning on the bike is key. Too far forward (standing on some bikes) on wet days..... and I loose traction on the rear. Too far back, or sometimes pulling the trailer and I have trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground. I have an upright folding bike that was a big pain to ride up the hill as I could barely keep the front wheel down. |
Yes. It wasn't fun.

I find it funny that Fargo is the steepest street in Los Angeles. I live near Fargo, ND, which is about as dead flat as any region in the country. I have ridden the Tour de Cure 100 mile route there several times and the steepest grade is 3% and that is a short dip where you cross the bridge on N Broadway. The elevation graph for the ride on Ride with GPS is a nearly flat line.

If you want a steep climb, Try Lincoln Gap RD from Warren, VT. Toughest paved mile in the US. The opposite side, from Lincoln Vt is no easy task, itself.
|
It happens on this part of a longer climb : https://www.strava.com/segments/9650047?filter=overall
