2010 Trek 2.1 - Comments? Reviews?
Not much out there on these that I could find. What do you guys think of 'em?
I'm looking for something for a 20-25 mile commute, about 70% highway.
I saw a review where one person was talking about lack of durability in the components including the wheels, bearings, brakes...?

I have a 2011 2.1 that I bought new during the annual TDF sale that year. It has been extremely durable for me. I have put around 10K on it and other than replacing the chain and rear cassette from normal use, no problems. FWIW, I watch the asking prices on 2.1s of this vintage and they seem to trade in the $650 range. Good luck and I think it sounds like a good choice.

Well it's an alu frame, so it's got that going against it
.
Actually it was my GF's first real road bike (yes, she rode a non-"WSD" bike!), but she wouldn't know how to compare/review it since she was a noob at the time. I think I rode it a few times after I worked on it, and a few times on the trainer, and there wasn't much to report on. It's not particularly light, but it is pretty stiff. It's a basic aluminum frame, so it's not going to be the cushiest of rides. The components are all lower tier stuff, but I don't think you'll have to worry about stuff falling apart on it, unless it was previously not taken care of properly.
If you can get a good deal on one (I think my GF sold hers for like $550 to a co-worker when she upgraded), there isn't any reason to dissuade you from buying it, but don't overpay just because it's a well known brand.
