Cannondale CAAD9....good deal?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale CAAD9....good deal?

I came across a CAAD9 frame/premium fork (and headset) on C-list. Seller is asking $350. I admittedly know pretty little about the Cannondales....especially re-sale values. I have read that they are quite nice frames and are the last ones to have been built in the U.S. Thoughts? Feedback?

FWIW, I haven't contacted the seller as of yet as I'm not sure if I would pick it up. But, I'm actually thinking of replacing my carbon bike with a high-end aluminum one.

TIA!

Sounds like a great deal if it fits, in great condition, components etc. Maybe post the link and people can give you a more informed decision. I did own a CAAD9 and 10 and both awesome frames

I've found Trek and Tirreno aluminum frames around $80 to $200, some with forks, some without.

Looking on E-Bay, the CAAD 9 frames seem to have asking prices of $300 to $500 or so, with some selling as low as $250. But, more seem to be waiting for buyers than selling.

Anyway, for me it would seem a little high, but in the ballpark as long as it is in good condition, with NO CORROSION.

It's a great bike. I bought my CAAD9 frame used for about the same price 4 or 5 years ago. It replaced a Trek 5900 and I've never thought about going back to carbon since (yeah, right!). Mine has a standard bb while some came with BB30. Check that if it matters to you. If I needed to replace it I would pay that price for another one.

Didn't realize this is frameset not complete bike haha. Still good deal, $350+ is going rate on eBay. I've seen caad8 go for under $300 but even that is rare

Looks like I'll be able to meet the seller tomorrow during his lunch hour. I'll see if he wants to deal a little on the price, just because that's me (with caveats of course). So, there may be new pics....maybe not! Beautiful frame though, brushed, not painted. Nice, simple and goes with everything black or white.

That's a big selling point for me....I'm not a fan of the BB86/BB30/BB386/BBRight/blah blah blah "revolution".

+a million! (The plethora of modern BB standards has accomplished absolutely nothing....other than ensuring gross incompatibility.)

Oh no...no, no....now THAT would be a DEAL!!! Seller was asking $350 for the frame/fork/headset. I looked around on eBay and it's true, these frames are going for anywhere between $300 and $500, so I went to check it out. The frame has a few scratches here and there, so I offered $300 and bam(!), went home with it. Somehow, I managed to build it up on Monday night in order to ride Tuesday.

Very sweet ride. MUCH different than any aluminum I've ridden before. Stiff..but has a very nice road feel. Not too twitchy, seems to be dialed in quite well. Probably would feel even better with some nice, light wheels.

I'm beginning to see the appeal of the "cult of CAAD" thread.

Nice score!

I hope i have the opportunity to try one of these CAADs one day, just to see how it compares to a Klein.
