Resting Heart Rate
Related to the poll, I noticed that my resting heart rate is around 78. To be totally honest, I never done a count as soon as I woke up. I did it a few minutes after and after I put on my heart rate monitor. It seems everyone else and their mother has a lower rate than I do. I'm 22 and have been cycling for 6 months. The one improvement I've noticed is that my heart rate drops really quickly when I stop cycling. It will go from 170 to 125 in about 1 to 2 minutes. Do I just have a naturally high heart rate???

Resting pulse can vary during the day; mine can be as low as 49, but if i've had a big lunch, a few cups of coffee, and I'm slightly dehydrated, it can be up around 60 to 65, even if I sit still for 10 minutes.
I get the lowest reading late at night when I'm about to go to sleep. I find i'm a bit too startled in the morning to get an accurate reading. Having said that, maximum and minimum heart rates do vary from person to person. There was another thread which also listed max HR, and the figures ranged from the high 170s to the low 200s http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...hlight=resting If you do a search, you should find plently of other threads on heart rates http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ighlight=lower |

Yeah your heart rate going down rapidly after excercise is a good thing.
