What's the usable lifetime of a new CF frame?

Are newer techniques in CF construction able to replicate steel frame longevity?

Possibly correct. Unless it asplodes.

Longer than steel, carbon does not rust.

Depends on whether it has disc brakes and thru axles....

If you look at fatigue testing data, a well built cf frame out performs steel frames.

Absent crash damage CF frames will last a very long time. And if you do have crash damage, it's more economical to repair, than a TIG welded steel frame

The value of the highly accurate number I provided is that one knows precisely when the asplosion will occur. You can invite your friends for a viewing party. They have to bring the beer, of course.

Are you sure that it is not a multiple of PI?

That would be spooky!

20,000 hours or 20,000 rides. Which ever comes first

JohnJ80 07-21-15 07:30 PM

Easy. It's done when it hits the garage when you forgot to take it off the roof rack.

I have over 50,000 miles on my Trek frame and fork, still perfect. I suppose the lifespan is indefinite.

Circa 2004?

Wow, that's really impressive.

No. They have yet to figure out how to make CF rust from the inside.

Yes, your diagram perfectly illustrates the figure that I provided. Several decimal places suggest the precision, and my word speaks to the accuracy. Not only will my prediction be borne out, but to the millisecond or so.

By the way, the accurate and precise picture looks an awful lot like my pistol targets at 7 yards.

Hard to say. I looked at the source code (the HTML code appears to have been written in notebook) and there is no date in the "head". There is a reference to a 2008 email and a link dated 2010.
