How much is this Pinarello worth?
Hi everyone, thanks for reading.
I'm looking for my first road bike. I came across this road bike on kijiji and it looks very nice. Here's the link.
The frame is a 2011 Pinarello Treviso (aluminium 6061). It's has "full ultegra 6700 groupset with continental tires, brand new selle italia saddle, new carbon fiber dropbar, new carbon stem, new carbon seatpost and look keo clip."
How much would you pay (in Canadian dollar and Toronto) for this if he swapped out the wheels for these?
Thanks!

Where did you get the description from? That information is not at the link you posted. I have a couple of issues with the ad:
1. To me the ad seems suspect because it is devoid of information. In my mind the type of person who owns a bike like that is very enthusiastic and knows what they are riding and would put some details in their ad if it were legit.
2. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around why someone would put "new" carbon bars, stem, and seatpost, and a new seat right before selling the bike...unless it was crashed and those parts were either visibly damaged or suspected as damaged and replaced for good measure. The pictures don't look like the bike was crashed but I would recommend checking it carefully for damage and alignment.
Why would the seller be willing to swap out the wheels with a set off of amazon? does he have that set of wheels separately?
What is more important than how much the bike is worth is how much is your budget and what are you willing to spend?
If this is a legit sale and everything is in good order I would recommend a price between $400 and $600 for that bike.
(check the chain, cogs, chainrings, and derailleur pulleys for wear)

He also has an instagram, and going back, I can see that he bought the frame and all the other parts new, then put it together. As for the wheels, he has that set of wheels separately. He is offering to do so because the carbon wheels are out of my budget.
I wish to keep my budget near $800. I'm completely new to cycling so I've just been looking through kijiji and craiglists for hours (obviously I want to get the best bike possible). Prices in Toronto are also pretty high. On another note, doesn't the Ultegra groupset itself cost around $500?

2011 Pinarello Treviso Sora Bike - New and Used Bike Value
Id say that bike is worth a little more than 400-600 bucks but that's really subjective on how badly you want it I guess. With the ultegra and wheels if guess more like 900 to 1k if everything is in great shape. They're calling it 700 in like new condition with a sora group, Ultegra 6700 is the previous gen ultegra but still a great group and depending on its shape plus the wheels, that's well worth 2-300 bucks.

Its all used equipment. The price compared to what the cost for it new becomes very relative...
Relative to the fact that you are the buyer not the seller...had you been the seller and asked a similar question the dollar value recommended may be higher.
Relative to what you really want to spend.
Relative to how old the equipment is (the bike or at least the frame is almost 5 years old)...value generally drops as bike stuff ages even if never used.
Relative to what condition the equipment is in in terms of wear and tear...does anything need to be replaced? (how about in the near or mid-term future?).
Relative to how well the bike fits you...is the frame all around a proper fit? how about stem length and bar width? does the saddle work for your arse? is the geometry comfortable for the type and length of riding you plan on doing?
Relative to how well you can negotiate.
Relative to how much the seller will actually accept for his stuff.
etc.
All the above are questions only you can answer as this discussion is happening over the internet and most likely no one responding is there to personally help you inspect and evaluate the bike before you negotiate/buy.
It seems like a nice bike but....if you budget is $800 there is no reason the seller needs to see your cards. Figure out how you want to play this out and use some negotiating skills, the first of which is to wait for the other party to make the first price offer...the second negotiating skill is to counter that initial offer with a low offer of your own and then work your way to the pre-set limit you established for yourself. You can always negotiate upwards in price but once you as the buyer mention a price it is nearly impossible to negotiate lower. Also keep in mind that if you do not already have gear you will want/need shorts, shoes, helmet, gloves, water bottles, cyclometer, etc.
One other thing...if you are buying a complete bike...do not be hoodwinked into thinking that you should pay more because the saddle, bars, and stem are new...the fact they are new should matter little to you since there is warranty passed to you and when buying on the second hand market even new stuff should be considered by the buyer as used in reflecting on an initial offer and cap. In the used motorcycle market the used value of a bike is often not affected, at least not significantly, by all the bling the seller has installed on his motorcycle. Often one can find a motorcycle decked out with all sorts of chrome and other expensive niceties for nearly the same price as the same bike in stock condition...folks who want to get the most money out of their motorcycle will usually remove all their bling and return the motorcycle to near stock condition with the parts they saved and then sell the aftermarket parts separately.
Hope you negotiate a good deal and enjoy what you buy.

I'd never buy a used Pinarello unless it's a vintage steel one. Carbon Pinarellos are the most faked frames in existence.

there's a guy selling one on Ebay right now (frame only). He admits its fake. He said the he bought it with the understanding that it was real...and got duped. He even said he has two other Pinarellos and still didn't realize right away that he had been duped.
