Time Impact cleat longevity

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Time Impact cleat longevity

Does anyone know how long these plastic cleats last before you have to replace them?

Had the same concern after inheriting a set of Impact pedals from a used bike. There is not much meat to these cleats , especially up front. The cleats have held up real well, though. I try not to do the moonwalk when wearing bike shoes. Mine are over a year old and still snap in and float properly, even though they are somewhat rounded. Time pedals are tough to beat but spendy as are the cleats.

I think I wear out a pair every year. The first thing to go on mine is usually the front plastic piece (one of the "pontoons") -- it starts to crack after so many clip-ins and outs and stepping on the ground. When that happens it's hard to clip into the pedal. I also find the Time Impact cleats to be much more expensive than, say, the Look ones. When I wear out my current pair I'll probably switch to a different pedal system because Time has replaced these with some new design and I just want to stick with something that's not going to change so much and so often.

$29 for cleats? Looks like I may be switching when mine wear out too.

Is that a fact? I can get these pedals at a good price new, but I want to make sure that the cleats dont get outdated, like, right now.
