Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Newbie Brake Question

I have been lurking for quite awhile and I have learned quite a bit from this forum!

I hope this isn't a dumb question -
I have a regular braking system on my Fuji Sportif. Is it possible, or even good idea, to change out the fork and have a disc brake up front?

Thanks.

Very possible, you would most likely need a disk compatible level.

You could do that but it would be very costly. You would also need a disc compatible front hub as well as your new fork.
If you aren't happy with your current brakes why not check into tuning them up?
Have you tried new brake pads/cables?
Properly adjusted rim brakes work great.

It's not a dumb question, but it's way more trouble than it's worth. Way more.

You'd only need a specific shifter for hydro brakes.
