Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Threaded BB shell from & BB30 Crank? -- iz possible?

I just picked up an older used frame that I like, and it fits me, and... threaded BB shell. It came with some serviceable 105 on it, and I can ride that for a while with no problem. But I have a nice SRAM Red group that I'd love to use if I can. But it's got a BB30 crankset. I searched about but this voodoo is confusing me. I thought about buying a SRAM Red GXP crankset, but it seems they're all 22 speed now.

I'm wondering, ..Is there a good adaptor technology? -- or should I avoid that path at all costs?

Thanks!

What, no used ones or even new-old stock on ebay? Hard to believe.

Voila, like I said: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...-BB30&_sacat=0

You can adapt your BSA shell to the 30 mm diameter of the crank, but the spindle is too short. The adapters are threaded cups that sit outboard of the shell and make the width 86 mm wide. Just like GXP but bigger around. If your spindle is only 68 mm, that won't work. I don't think you can do it.

I ride a set up like that, but with a FSA K-Force light BB386 EVO crank and BB on my threaded BSA frames. Bigger diameter and longer spindle.
