Quiz: Are You a Cycling Snob

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't shave my legs, don't have coordinating socks (other than for weather), don't have more than 2 caps, and a few other things. Still got uber snob. The Ti bike and coffee probably did me in.

That's what I got. It's true for me.

anti-snob, but some of the questions really didn't offer the right answers. Strava? "I've heard of it" wasn't a choice.

I didn't even bother with the questionnaire because I knew that my answers would be completely off of their charts.

But I am something of a bicycle snob. I've been known to say that I hate the automobile. But it's been a long time because I figured out that that's not strictly true. I even admire individual cars. But I figured out a long time ago that being in a car every single day is unhealthy. So I got out.

In my day to day life of actually seeing other human beings, I'm the only one. This is a case where I'm right and everyone else is wrong!

Soo....in that respect.......yeah, I'm a bit of a snob.

I'm also a Fred. I honestly don't think that I look down on other styles of cycling. But I don't understand them and I think Fred is what cycling ought to be.

So I might also be a bit of a Fred snob.

Your self-awareness is as commendable as your opinion is unfortunate.

As a matter of fact I have a brother-in-law who's a very definite roadie. We're on good terms. But I can only remember one time that we tried to ride together. That was 25 years or so ago.

We've never tried again and neither of us has ever brought up the possibility.

The two styles will just never, never match.

you'd rather be out on your bike than sipping espressos.
despite choosing "hand-picked heritage coffee beans..."

uber snob? really? I don't think of myself that way at all....I talk to everyone, always am friendly... sure I like carbon, but I won't pay an arm and a leg for it... I like Italian bikes, but I don't own one (yet) and I like cycling socks and have a bunch, but I don't break the bank for em'... and I could care less about what kit anyone else wears, but I do think the wc stripes and leaders jersey's are supposed to be earned... I don't think that makes me a snob, but rather a purist....

i'm totes callin BS on this survey...

Yes, really. You can be a snob about bikes and cycling without being a snob towards people, so I don't think it's BS, and of course it's not a big deal anyhow.

The quiz measured attitude regarding cycling related issues, not ones attitude to those who are less than purists. A purist can be perfectly accepting and friendly to others, but risks being called a snob if he noticeably excludes himself from the 'impure' ways of those around him.
