Staying in Pasadena in May (24th to 29th). 2Rodies, you told me to let you know, but I'm not sure if I could keep up with you!
A Previous thread I had suggestions for a few great routes, but I was wondering about some further input.
Currently the ride from my location would be a 54mi out and back if I were to ride up Mt. Wilson. How far around is the Angels Crest/Upper Big Tujunga/Angels Forest loop? I'm really debating between this loop and the Angels Crest/Mt. Wilson out and back. From what I can tell looking at GoogleMaps, the ride up from Angels Crest to Mt. Wilson is about 5mi. Given that I would subtract that 10mi out and back, how much farther would it be around AC/UBT/AF/AC back down to Pasadena?
In addition to the distance:
1. Which ride is the more difficult?
2. Which ride is the more scenic (I'm told the Mt. Wilson ride is great because it gives a beautiful view of the city)?
Thanks for the info.

Fore I'll be there from the 8th through the 27th working on the Tonight Show. We should hook up for some riding! I'll PM you my cell #.
Level of difficulty varies, the first part of the Mt Wilson climb (assumming you are starting from Foothill going up Angeles Crest Hwy) is easier. After you pass Angeles Forest you will have a short decent and you'll start the climb to Mt Wilson which is harder than the section before. Foothill to Angeles Forest (up AC) is around 12miles and not terribly steep. It's about 8 (i think) miles further to Mt Wilson and it's steeper.
Overall the climb up Big Tujunga to AF to AC is much harder and longer. Also the air in this canyon doesn't move much and it can be several degrees warmer than at the base.
Gearing: I can pretty much cruise AC in a 39 19/20 without much difficulty. BT I definately need a 23 for the last section before AF.
