Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

nike Women's Altea II Plus Road Shoes cleats?

Hi,
I hastily just bought a pair of Nike Women's Altea II Plus Road Shoes. I am not entirely sure what kind of petals I have, one side is regular pedals and the other side looks like it needs a 2 or 4 bolt cleat. Does anyone know what cleats work with this shoe? Any recommendations for a beginner? I have attached a picture of the bottom of the shoe. Thanks in advance.
Emma

Does anyone out there own these shoes or understand cleat compatibility?

Those shoes will accept SPD style cleats (the ones on the shoe) as well as SPD-SL style cleats.

As far as your pedals, there's no way for us to know what you have based on your description, but it sounds like you have these..

If that's the case, an SPD cleat will fit one side, and the other side is just for regular shoes without cleats. You have SPD cleats, so they should work just fine (if theses are your pedals). I am unaware of a two sided pedal that accepts two styles of cleats. The SPD-SL style cleat is below this paragraph.

I know. She said she has double sided pedals. My guess is she has the pedals pictured. Is reading really so hard?

According to Wheel and Heel, "These shoes accept cleats with the SPD-R, SPD, and Look bolt patterns." In other words, they were designed to accommodate several popular cleat styles... right now, the shoes you bought have SPD cleats on them. If your pedals look like the one 69Chevy shows (i.e., SPD on one side), you're good to go.

those are Shimano M530s and have spd clip ins on both sides and don't have a flat side for a regular shoe. Was it really hard to read the description when you looked for the pic?

Apparantly.

I linked to the M530 pic instead of the A530 on accident.

I fixed it. I also misunderstood what you were telling me. My mistake, and I apologize. The last few times I've posted on here trying to be helpful, I've had people arguing with me and assumed that's what you were doing as well.

Thanks for pointing out I posted the wrong pic.
