How many miles per week?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Typical month for me. Haven't ridden as much the last few weeks because a new puppy has been keeping me busier but I'm getting back to normal. Don't look at year to date mileage, I started this log in July haha

Too busy riding to reply earlier ?

It's 2015, we track hours now, not miles.

250-300 miles is normal.

Some weeks are less, but 400+ mile weeks also happen.

On a good week, I get 3 weekday post-work rides (Mon, Wed, Fri) of 18-30 miles each (70ish total), Saturday morning group ride of 20-ish plus another 20-30 of hills after (40-50), and maybe Sunday I'll get 20-30 miles in on my own before my wife gets out of bed. For any number of work/life related reasons, I can end up missing a few of those. A week of less than 50 miles annoys me. A 100+ week makes me happy.

about 75, on average, for 2014. First year I've ridden seriously, so we'll see how 2015 goes.

It's probably what they "did for work" ... chances are they're retired now! This thread is a good 13 years old.

I live car-free, work in the industry, and have no children. My SO does a few IMs a year, and many of our dates are training rides/dinner/bed.

Cycling is a huge part of my life. I rarely go a day without cycling.

Three days a week I ride before work. So Monday 20, Wednesday 20 and Friday 25.
Then on Saturday I ride about 50.

I shoot for riding 100 per week, 5000 for the year. That's made up of mostly 12-15mi early am weekday rides and a long and short weekend day. I usually only skip rainy days. The reality is that for the past few years I have only hit about 3500mi for the year because I wimp out for several months during the cold weather and move inside to the trainer.

Supposed to be in the mid 50's here today after weeks of freezing temps so I am going out for a long ride, maybe around 50.

So SiliconWafer, did you ever get into racing and how many miles a week are you pumping out now?

For the record, I do 100-150.

In the 14 years since his post, he did in fact progress through the ranks to Cat 1 after 4 seasons of serious riding, got a pro continental team contract, got noticed at the crit championships, and joined a grand tour team. Unfortunately, the pressure on Wafer was too high and he was popped for PEDs in his second season after failing to make an impression in the spring classics.

He's now on his 2nd marriage and is regionally competitive at Spartan races, though chronic hip issues are taking their toll.

Does that sound right, @siliconwafer?

lol.

Also, miles schmiles. I have fewer miles this year than past years and I'm doing some of my best/fastest riding. Quality of quantity.

I wish I had more time, I'm trying to just consistently get out and ride again. I get up at 5:30 2-3 times a week and get my 13 mile loop in, and get out for a 25+ mile ride on Saturday morning. I have a goal of riding 2600 miles in the next year (Aug-Jul). So at least 50 a week.

I'm usually in the range of 100-130 miles per week. A few rides during the week and a long weekend ride.

I was doing 400+ per week this summer during a Pacific Coast bike tour.
