NOT BIBS - Looking for shorts - NOT BIBS
I've used both bibs and standard lycra shorts. The fit and comfort is more important to me than the configuration. That said, I'm looking for reasonably priced, good fitting, and comfortable shorts, NOT BIBS.
I found a set of LG shorts, NOT BIBS, at Nashbar. They fit the bill as far as the above description. I really love them. They fit great, are very comfortable, offer very good muscle compression, and the price is reasonable even before any discounts. I went back to order 2 more pairs and they are out of my size. I have a sinking feeling that they won't have my size (medium) for a very long time.
To me a reasonable price means less than $40. I know it can be done, I found them. I've checked the usual suspects, Nashbar, Performance, REI, Backcountry, etc, and I'm not happy with what I see. I don't like the way the others look and/or are constructed, and I see possible fit and effectiveness issues. Anybody have any recommendations?

Muscle compression.... LOL

Manufacturers promise performance and recovery with compression, and cyclists have bought in. But research suggests the benefits are in our heads.

i guess it's possible that they only had one pair left....

I actually have a pair of Elite BIBS. They were great for a while, but they are wearing out and I now weigh about 25 lbs less than when I got them. So they don't really compress the way I'd like them to. (see also next post) I would consider them again, probably NOT BIBS, but mine are a few years old and the style has changed quite a bit in the mean time. Do you have a set of Elites in a current model and if so can you recommend them?

Out of LG, Castelli, Bellwether, and Sugois shorts I own, the Sugois RS are my absolute favorite.
They fit well, chamois is great, and it's sewn in with double stitches, so less likely to unravel like the castelli did.
The LG, I've had a number of them over the years, and the fit/size is not consistent. Nor do I like their high rise waist.

You must have gotten the ProFeel 2. I have the Pro Max 2 and love them. I'm still considering the ProFeel 2 but they seem to have a pretty thick pad, something I'm not interested in. The reviewers mentioned the thick pad quite often. When you try them I'd be interested to know what you think of them.

Edit: the Sugois are triple the price I'd mentioned in my OP. They do look nice though..

Didn't see any shorts on Daily Deals, but I want to look more at their jerseys.
Bugs me that you can't even shop the Clymb without signing up, can't be bothered right now..

Other than the price, the fact that they don't have my size, and that they're not NOT BIBS, yeah they're exactly what I want..

Now! you tell me about the ProFeel 2 model! i bought the them because i thought they were the ones that you thought they were out of.
anyway, to be honest i didn't look, so i guess i don't really know what i bought (not unusual)... i just read your post and thought i would take a look-see. found the shorts and ordered a pair, and a 19.99 cannondale short-sleeved jersey to boot.
so now i suppose there's something i won't like about the jersey too...
previous shorts (worn out after about 20,000 miles and tired of getting out the needle and thread every month or two) are a pair of performance bike jobs. needless to say, i'm not too particular...
edit: ya, i just checked. they are the "profeel 2" model. makes one wonder what was not to like about the "profeel 1" doesn't it?

Eating mint chocolate chip ice cream is aberrant behavior. Whose perverted idea was that nasty flavor anyway?

Bibs suck actually. Shoulder straps are annoying. Buy bibs you like, and cut the shoulder straps off, or tuck them in the waistband.
