Bicycle CO2 pump

Do you guys use 2 12g or 1 16g CO2 cartridge for your CO2 pumps? I've heard mixed reviews, saying that 1 12g co2 cartridge is not enough for getting over 90 psi, but the 16g is a lot more expensive than the 12g.

When I need to buy CO2 cylinders, I do a google search and find some place to buy in bulk. The only place they are expensive is when it's someplace thats selling them for bikes. BB/pellet guns use them and there are a ton of industrial applications. Just find the same size cylinder threaded and buy in bulk.

Really though, how many do you go through in a season?
How often are you flatting out?

One 12g will get you to roughly 90PSI which is plenty to get home. You can get them super-cheap at WalMart.

When I flat it typically requires two cartridges to inflate.

The first cartridge contributes to the atmosphere, the second inflates the tire.

User error.

p.s. in general it's a good idea to hold the cartridge BELOW the level of the valve. Get the cheap ones and practice a couple so you get the technique down.

See addendum. I figured better to light a candle than curse the darkness.
