I'll see you there! Most of the groups meet at the same spots (engineers gate or TOG) so it gets pretty friendly. Save this thread and say hi when the season starts for you!

The cops may be bored in Piermont and you may not like their rules, but the fact is riding 2 wide is illegal there too. Signs are posted and if you are caught, they'll ticket you.
I don't like the nature of everything Piermont, but the police chief there is at least approachable and is willing to talk to cycling groups and explain the delicate balance that comes with managing traffic flow in a tiny village with narrow streets that gets flooded with motorists and cyclists alike on the weekends.

We may have. I started riding with the Bs in the summer of '13, and would occasionally join Linda's morning loops of the park last year. Don't recall exactly when I started trying to keep up with the A; "funnest" training rides were probably with a little group that was making the transition from B to A at about the same time - I think they were the only A19 training rides ever.
This spring I signed up for the A SIG and did the first few rides of that, but had to drop out because moving to Jersey interfered with attendance.

Cafzali is correct about the single-file law in Piermont and I think Nyack - there's a very delicate relationship between the local population, drivers, motorcyclists, the thousands of cyclists that show up every weekend (who also fund a few cafes that otherwise might not thrive in a sleepy Rockland County town) and the police, and the occasional to-do about some thing or the other. I know an excellent rider who got a ticket for riding 2X2 in Piermont.

Signs all over the place that say BIKES RIDE SINGLE FILE. My guy was on one such street - I think he was dropping back to eliminate a gap so it wasn't even a blatant infraction. That was the only time I've actually seen anyone pulled for it but I understand they will nab you if they see you.

When I first decided to ride with a club in a paceline i went to the club leader at the store that hosted the club to have a chat.
I told him I hadn't ridden in a paceline in many years. He made arrangements for me to go out with a couple of riders for 'familiarization rides'. The people on those rides explained how they structure their pacelines, what they expect and what to watch out for, ie, signals and calls they use etcetera. Then we rode and practised. It was a very nice introduction. Also, when I showed up for the first couple of rides I was allowed to 'hang' at the back of the group in order to become more comfortable with the larger group before having to pull the group.
Cheers

For those unfamiliar: 9W between Piermont and Nyack is a narrow stretch that runs at a fairly level elevation as it traverses a steep hillside. For much of the way there is NO shoulder; buildings on the east side, by the river, are often within 5 feet of the roadway, and on the west side, the front yards of homes are often defined by retaining walls. Nevertheless, cars and trucks often park on the side of the road and inevitably block half the lane. The route makes a broad sort of S as it snakes through the central village. On weekends, sometimes it seems bikes outnumber cars. So, in terms of sharing the road, imagine a crowded, MUP, except instead of a bunch of pedestrians and a few bikes, you have a bunch of bikes and a few cars, and where it finally broadens, half the cyclists decide they want to stop or cross to the other side of the road. Now imagine that MUP being the only way you can get to and from your house, and your local convenience retail/services being at the entrance to that MUP. Cyclists would get on your nerves, too. There is a bypass at a higher elevation, but it is also narrow, often shoulder-less, and traffic moves much faster, so it is not at all bike-friendly.
