Seriously, there needs to be a Bikesdirect sticky
Bikesdirect has pretty good deals but they also do a lot of marketing nonsense like saying compare that bike to one that costs $4500. I would more realistically compare to a $2000-2500 bike like this
Fuji SST 2.1 Road Bike - 2014
The Kestrel from BD gets you:
Full Ultegra group with cranks, brakes etc. which is nice and can be had for $550-600 from UK
Outdated, heavy carbon frame. You are not getting the latest technology and it's about 4-500 grams heavier than lighter modern frames. You can get a 900g or lighter frame from China for $450-500.
Cheap, heavy wheels and tires
Decent but lower end Ritchey finishing parts.
You have to finish assembly yourself and be competent enough to tune the drive train and set up brakes and maybe true and properly tension your wheels. For people comfortable doing this work themselves and not caring about name brands you can get a decent deal from BD

It's a good deal. I bought two bikes from them. The first I took to a bike shop and paid them to assemble for me. The second one I assembled myself. No issues.
