Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Having a strong bmx background and riding SE bikes and GT's the majority of that phase. I stumbled upon an SE Royale 16 Road Bike for only $450 new. Jumped on it and it felt great. Looking forward to this journey.

Woah, those are $320 at Nashbar today, $335 shipped to my place. I might have to grab one. Maybe see if a 25% off day comes up soon...

Welp not to revive a graveyard thread but posting an update here! 227mi on the steed and man, shes light and fast. Upgraded the saddle, and double bar tape now. Still going strong. Weighs in at 19.8lbs. All the components have held up quite well( im ocd about lube and degreaser) and she shifts like a dream after slight indexing. Happy happy happy! This year i plan to break the 1500mi mark and on to the next👊🏻. SE Racing aint too bad at all. Happy with my rig. Cheers!

Congrats on buying your first Road bike! I have always rode mountain bikes but now I am going to get a road bike as soon as I possibly can. Glad you liked the bike. Did you get it fitted to you? The ride would be even better if you get it properly fitted!

Indeed I did have the bike fitted. seat adjustments and stem length stuff too. I used to bmx...but the body does not bounce back like it used to! So on a road bike I went and gotta love it.
