BF Technical Question

Is anyone else experiencing difficulty with typing responses to posts? There are huge delays in response to my keyboard inputs such that it can take a very, very, very long time type a response to a post. I do not have this issue with any other website. Sometimes I just give up trying to type a response.

Sorry if this should be posted elsewhere.

The forum censor is a slow reader. Try typing slower.

Nope ... no problems here. Try rebooting your computer.

Black wallnut 11-03-15 06:13 PM

Sounds like a connection issue or spyware. Clear cookies, cache, reboot or restart browser.

datlas 11-03-15 06:28 PM

It's not me, it's you.

OmegaWolf 11-03-15 06:56 PM

I have. About half the time I've tried to type in a reply on BF I've had to wait about 5 seconds between keystrokes for them to take.

I have a rather slow connection...but no problemo- but I use a Linux operating system...so there's never a problem....

So, is it not fast enough or is it not efficient enough? So confusing.

I have had issues using it for a long time only on my iPad. For sometime also. It lately has been nearly unresponsive to trying to type and defaults out of the text box. Previously I have had issues with the cursor jumping around and words not making sense.

It has only been my iPad, using Chrome, and SwiftKey keyboard. Never on my android or laptop.

It's the adware. It drove me nuts, but I use it a lot, so I bought a premium. Win7, FIOS.

Not since I went to a high modulus carbon framed keyboard with CF keys, fast acting low friction ceramic pivoted switches, high flex monster brand cable with gold plated connectors and an aero wrist rest.

It does that when the connection is slow.

I regularly run anti-virus, spyware and malware searches so I do not think that is the issue. I have noticed that my CPU is pegged (this is not a terribly fast computer) until the ads quit loading. Sometimes after the ads quit loading it is better, but not always. I typed this response in word and pasted it into BF because of the issue. If anyone else is having the issue and can direct me to the solution I would appreciate the input as I enjoy participating in the BF discussions.

Have you tried different browsers? I seem to remember that happening while running Chrome for whatever reason, but I've switched back to Firefox (and just "updated" to windows 10) and haven't had any issues. You should run Adblock on whatever browser you're using as well, I forget that this webpage ever even had ads because I don't see them.

Ads?

We cheapskates get a lower quality product with lots of ads.

The ads do hog up some performance but I've always had an issue with this website logging me out automatically after about 5 minutes. I'll be typing a post or response and when I go to send it, I have to log back in. Also at work on their computer with windows 8 I've been experiencing something similar to you but I thought the keyboard was messed up or I was having a stroke?

I invented "It's not me, it's you."

That's two sentences. Shouldn't a semi-colon be used in place of the comma?

It's not me; it's you.

As for the OP's original question, beats me.

You have to click "Remember me".

Even with a semi-colon I believe it would still be one sentence:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semicolon

Also, shouldn't you have written "Those are two sentences" instead of "That's two sentences"?

Ok, ok. It's DEFINITELY you. Serenity now!

Makes me think of this:

I checked with my in-house expert and she agrees about the comma vs. the semi-colon but says my sentence is ok because it referred to one statement.

I can see that I shouldn't have strayed out of Addiction. :D

to the OP, I still don't know.

Stucky 11-04-15 09:38 AM

Proper grammar makes you faster.

Ads? Try using Firefox/IceWeasel with the Adblock plug-in......

8 year-old 'puter here, and this site works just fine for me.

RPK79 11-04-15 09:45 AM

I only notice the delay when I talk to myself.
