Converting old carbon rims to disc

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Converting old carbon rims to disc

I was wondering if any of you have any experience or knowledge about this.

Would it be safe to convert old carbon rims with a worn out brake track to a disc brake wheelset? I'm primarily wondering for trying to save money. I don't have these so I would have to buy them used.

How thin is the rim at the worn out part? Unless you have the manufactures specs to measure it against, the only way to measure this is destructive.

I don't have them so I would just be buying what someone else couldn't use any more for rim breaking. Can you remove so much of that surface that they become too thin to use safely?

How much do you really think you are going to save with that plan? You can get prebuilt wheels for $400

Assuming we're talking clinchers here, if the brake track is worn to the point it can't be used, I wouldn't trust the integrity of the side of the rim, which is holding the tire on the wheel.
