Does anyone here have experience ordering a Lynskey direct from the factory? I've seen old posts on review websites that say Lynskey promises three weeks and delivers in six. What was your experience?

For the record, I was promised delivery in five weeks, but I'm now well into week twelve. No bike. And my once-per-week emails asking for the status of my order either go unanswered or I get, "I will check with the factory and see where it stands" -- but I never get the promised follow-up. Since my credit card was charged nearly 3 months ago, I'm beginning to get concerned. I've been nice to this point -- maybe too nice?

What's the normal delivery time from Lynskey? Is my experience out of the ordinary? Is the company in trouble?

One of the guys in the club got a new Lynskey not too long ago, and didn't seem to have any issues with schedule. But I think it was a standard frame, not custom geometry, and that may make a difference. Can't help you otherwise. Maybe try the phone instead of email.

don't be 'That Guy" (the too too nice one), catch the Chattanooga choo-choo to Lynsky's HQ, put up a stink about the lack of follow-ups and get the skinny on what's up with the delay.

I was quoted 2 weeks build time. It arrived 13 days after placing the order.

When I ordered mine, the web site said ships in three weeks and it shipped in two. Did you attempt to call and talk to a human? There's nothing more frustrating than getting no answer when all you really would like is an honest estimate of when to expect your item to ship!

I know the recommendation to go to the factory to see what's up was arguably tongue-in-cheek, but seriously, how far do you live from there. I see Middle Tennessee. I know Tennessee is a very wide state, but it could be worth the trip, if only just to shake hands and look around the place. I have been fortunate to have always been able to visit with the custom builders I have used for new frames and repaints. It goes a long way toward satisfaction with the end product.

Mine was in stock and I got it in less than a week. Did you order custom geometry or something out of the ordinary? I've never before heard of questionable customer service from Lynskey.

I've been looking at the R240 and have had trouble with their web site. With that being said I sent them an email with some questions and it took lynskey 4 days to get back with me and none of my questions were answered. Lynskey is scratched off of my list for a new Ti bike

Replying to email is such a simple customer service thing, and yet so many companies get it wrong. Kind of sad.

Yes it is. There are quite a lot of great ti mfg. out there so I've been looking at Kish, Moots, Desalvo and Zancanto. Lynskey has a decent price but if it takes that amount of time to answer 4 questions it tells me that there not interested.

Update: Until now, I've communicated exclusively with my sales rep -- by email, IM or phone, depending on the situation. Today, rather than call my rep direct, I called the company's switchboard number. I was directed to a very nice lady who advised me that the frameset was completed 8 days ago. She said that my sales rep had been given a notification. (In those 8 days, I emailed / IM'd him 3 times and he promised to check on the bike's status 3 times, but he never got back to me.)

I drove down to Chattanooga today to pick up the frameset and components. The head of sales brought the bike out and helped me inventory the order and load it into my car. The frameset is beautiful. Amazing workmanship. The attention to detail is off the charts. Because I did something a little different with the chainstays (lots of tire clearance and a 1x drivetrain), internal routing for the Di2 wiring had to be creative. Their solution is a work of art in itself.

The frameset is custom with a geometry that isn't like anything Lynskey produces as a stock bike. I was promised a 5 week turnaround and they did it in 11 weeks. Given the level of customization, I can live with it. If only their communication were better!

Sounds like one bad apple in the salesperson. I wouldn't blame the company. If you had gone to their customer service department earlier, you would have likely avoided a lot of frustration. Not that you had any way to know that, but you know what they say about folks who keep doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome...

Ordered mine on 12-25-15 and it is supposed to be here on 1-21-16. I had the graphics etched and had them build it. I think that is pretty good turnaround considering the holidays, etched graphics and build. I bought from them in 2010 and they shipped an in stock frame within 2 days. I think it depends on whether it is custom. I also think they get behind when they run a special (free custom geometry, discount or free painting).

I got my R240 in a month. They had to build it as they were out of stock due to their end of year sale. I ordered it on 11/3 and received it on 12/2. I will say they were pretty non-responsive once they had my money and didn't respond to any queries for updates when I emailed them.

Well I ordered my R265 on the 12th of Nov and had it by the 15th of Dec (may have been a day or two earlier actually). My sales rep, Jack, was very responsive to my questions before I ordered, and then during the build time. I sent a few emails for various reasons and he always responded the same day and usually within the hour. The ordered wheels for it were back ordered and he emailed me with an offer for a free upgraded set or the option to wait. I found the whole experience to be great and the bike arrived looking wonderful. Unfortunately the snows started before I got the bike so no chance to test it out. I won't subject a good bike to our harsh winter road chemicals.

I ordered a 2017 closeout frame on the 24th and haven't received much feedback yet. I was provided an email to use for order status updates. Sent an email to it today to inquire and will see how long it takes to get feedback. Need to coordinate with my LBS to schedule build. Will advise.

UPDATE: Received email back from Lynskey. It says the frame will be built and shipped in 4-6 weeks. It's not a custom frame and is supposed to be a closeout "while supplies last", but they're actually building it. So I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later and I get it in time for my double century.
Update #2 - Like others, I upgraded from the R150 to the R250. It shipped and has arrived. Being built at my LBS - hopefully ready tomorrow. Fork #2 was on backorder, but Lynskey turned it around anD shipped it very quickly. Will update with pics and first thoughts when it's all set. Ive got a double century next weekend. Yikes!

I ordered a 2018 GR260 with etched graphics Sept.7th.This will be my first TI Bike and realize that sometimes S_ _ T happens lol.When it comes I guess it will be a surprise.Ill post when I comes in.

I'm glad to see this current thread. I ordered a Lynskey R250 Disc on Aug. 7. They had to build it. Size L, with Ultegra Di2 drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes and the thru-axle option (with the Stans Team Grail wheelset).

On the phone when I ordered it a guy had told me that it would fit something like 32mm wide tires, but the site says 28mm. I bought a set of Cont. Grand Prix 4000 IIS tires in 28mm size that I just mounted to my current bike (2003 Trek 2300), and they measure out at 30.5mm front (Pacenti SL23 rim) and 31mm even on the back (Velocity A23 OC rim). Those rims are about the same dimensions as the Stans Team Grail rims, so I'm expecting 30-31mm final size. I'm hoping these tires fit, because I'm a heavier rider and would really like to be using these GP4Ks at 28mm nominal size. They are noticeably more comfortable than the combo I've been using for a while now (28mm Gatorskin on the back (actually is 28mm inflated), and 25mm GP4K on the front (measures 28mm inflated).

One thing doesn't make sense to me, though. Looking through their parts page, it shows all their available fork options. The only Lynskey Pro Carbon fork they list that has both thru axle and disc brakes is their Gravel model. Is that what I'll be getting? That would be nice in a way because it would support a much wider tire if I wanted to use one, but where I'd really actually want a wider tire is on the rear. I'll have to call them up and ask them.

Btw, when I emailed asking for a status and a clarification on a part going on my order the guy (Alex Brown) estimated that it would ship in 1.5 to 2 weeks. That was one week ago, so with any luck it'll ship sometime this week.

They did something which I'm quite happy about. In my special requests I asked for the wheels to be 32h front and 36h rear (as I said, I'm a heavier rider) if possible. They couldn't do the 36h rear because the hubs Stans uses don't have a 36h drilling. Normally the wheelset comes 28f/32r, but they asked Stans to lace up my front wheels with 32 spokes instead, so I'll be getting 32/32. As I read somewhere (maybe Sheldon Brown?) that if your front and rear wheels have the same number of spokes, then either the front is overbuilt or the rear is underbuilt. I think in my case it's the rear being underbuilt, but if I have any issues with that I'll just build a custom 36h wheel and be done with it.

Anyhow, looking forward to joining the Lynskey club. I'll post some pics when I get it. I guarantee it'll be assembled and ridden the day it arrives. I live in Arizona, and our primary riding season is just beginning.

They should pair that frame with a Pro #5. I am actually trading in an R265 and ordering the exact same config as you in the R250. I will be using my existing Pro #5 fork which is 15mm TA.

Ah yes, I didn't see that that one also uses disc brakes. Thanks! I think I'd just been looking at the photo when I was comparing, and that one didn't have any obvious protrusions for mounting the brakes.
