Part of the weight reduction of a compact over a regular double is a smaller cassette and less chain needed. (50 grams right there) The wheels can only start to get so light as well. |

At 5'11" 149 lbs, every 1/2 pound makes a noticable difference to me. *I was wrong about my triple it is a 52/42/30 and a 12-25 9 spd cassette* |
