December 40 Hour Challenge

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

More of the same.

December the 1st 31.0 miles, 1,096ft, 1.49.03
December the 2nd 43.2 miles, 3,104ft, 2.50.24
December the 3rd 27.7 miles, 906ft, 1.42.27

6 hours 21 minutes done, 33 hours, 39 minutes to go. Legs were a little heavy today, I had some light weeks at the end of November (meaning only 125-150 a week) and it's taking me a bit to get back into the swing of it. The next 5 days are looking warm, so I'm hopeful.

As I am a resident of the Inland Empire, I get to detour around all of the streets barricaded off following Tuesday's mass shooting. News trucks everywhere.

December the 1st 31.0 miles, 1,096ft, 1.49.03
December the 2nd 43.2 miles, 3,104ft, 2.50.24
December the 3rd 27.7 miles, 906ft, 1.42.27
December the 4th 25.0 miles, 1,204ft, 1.32.24

7 hours 54 minutes done.

Edit: and remembering to check my math, I have (I think) 512 miles to go to make my 7,000 mile total for the year. This is almost precisely 16mph avg. for the remaining 32 hours of the challenge. So my now mini-goal is to get the hours and the miles as close together as possible for the month. It might could happen.

I did another hour today. So that's two. I've got a long way to go.

Hmmm...I don't think I do 40 hours of work in a month

Not going to make 40'. I've only got, at the most, 8 more commutes left this year.

3 hours for me today in nice weather for December. If this holds up I'm a big advocate for climate change, El Niño, and warmer days. That's 5 total for the month.

Two more for Sunday. That makes seven total. If the snow holds off this month, I just might make it.

First time since my accident that I've done 60 minutes of cycling. 40 or so easy spin (again on the trainer) and 20 in the drops. Still painful but trying to get back at it.

December the 1st 31.0 miles, 1,096ft, 1.49.03
December the 2nd 43.2 miles, 3,104ft, 2.50.24
December the 3rd 27.7 miles, 906ft, 1.42.27
December the 4th 25.0 miles, 1,204ft, 1.32.24
December the 6th 37.0 miles, 1,211ft, 1.49.29

9 hours 43 minutes done, 30 hours 17 to go.

Averaged 20.3mph today over 37 miles, which just blows my mind-- as the first three miles climbed almost 900 feet, and with no warm-up I was trudging that hill. Gonna try to get some good miles in on Tuesday/Wednesday, as the weather is supposed to be unseasonably warm... with rain forecast for Thursday and Friday. :|
