Lemond and Armstrong: Body language worth a 1000 words

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At the 2003 Tour De France presentation. Definitely not the warmest relationship in sports judging by the looks on their faces I didn't know that Greg had accused Lance of doping!

P.S. Jan Ullrich was a juicer too?

Greg is a dope. Neither Jan nor Lance is a juicer - at least in this country you are innocent until proven guilty.

Haha. I can see the thoughts now.

Lance: "This a-hole accused me of doping. Let's do the math. 2. 5. I win."
Lemond: "Damn. 5. Crap. So much for being the poster-boy for American cycling. I hope he loses in '04."

Lemond is a moron.

Jan Ullrich tested positive for amphetamines and was suspended for six months. His excuse was he took some extacy at a night club. How is this a publicity lie?

Lemond looks like he's thinking, "Shoulders up, chest out. Breathe... Sigh, Lance isn't even wearing a tie. What an idiot. I'm wearing mine out of respect for the sport and my devoted fans. He has no respect for me, cycling, the American public... that's why I'll always say he did it. He doesn't give a @$%!, because he cheats. Lance @$%!ing Armstrong!"

Armstrong, likely is also thinking, "Why do I have to share a stage with this idiot. He had his 15 minutes of fame. Mine will definitely last longer and once I break the record, Lemond will be history. And those lies [gulp] about me, will be history too. @$%! him, @$%! em all! Let's get this over with, when's my next transfusion appointment?"

I love how everyone proports to know what both are thinking simply because of one photo. Heck, I'd look like that too standing next to either one of them too.

Actually, that's a lie, because I'm about half a foot taller than both, so naturally I'd be looking down at them smugly.

I do have one question for the self-righteous peanut gallery though.

Which part of having cancer and doing everything in your power to not only beat it but recover again quickly and rise to become an international cyclist again do you think DOESN'T invove drugs on the UCI banned list?

I don't believe Lemond ever outright said LA was a doper.

He insinuated it during a few interviews for sure.

Conan.

BTW, it seems Lance can count to six but he does need to use his hands.

I never got the impression that Lemond called Armstrong a doper. What he said was that if Lance does or doesn't use drugs; he will say he doesn't no matter what. Lemond said "everyone says that."

Happier Times:

Jan Ullrich was out of competition when he tested positive for amphetamines. He was recuperating from major knee surgery. He also was involved in a drunk-driving incident at the time.

While he was suspended, one can hardly see this behaviour as any attempt to enhance performance.

Well... the ecstacy was probably for a different kind of performance enhancement.

Yeah. I had heard that. I have no experience in the matter to be honest. I'm just saying stuff to propogate the image for my own amusement.

As far as I can tell, everybody who acccuses Lance of doping has a financial incentive for doing so... i.e. book deal, tabloid article, etc.

He is frequently tested and the results have never indicated doping in any form whatsoever. Why can't they just admit that he is an extraordinary athlete with a hellacious commitment... surrounded by a great team?
