Why do the good CL deals have to come during Christmas?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why do the good CL deals have to come during Christmas?

I mean, this is the worst time for me to be buying a bike for myself. Especially when i don't need another. I've dropped serious money on Christmas presents, now I see a bike I must have for a deal I'll probably never see again. What to do...

Buy now if you know you want it and you can afford it.

I can afford it, it's only $250. 2000 Super Sport GLX, Reynolds 853. I've had my eye out for another 853 for a while, I used to have a Lemond. Man.....

Wouldn't you be better off looking for something a little lighter, in order to increase your average speed?

Well I fired off a message. If the seller replies I'll buy it. But there's a lot of good deals right now, better than I've ever seen.

Craigslist viewing must be carefully controlled, I can almost always find something I'd like to have, and that can add up-like the last time I succumbed to a search, I found this and of course had to have it:

You should have already bought it for that price, especially if that's the bike you've had/want.

I'd be lucky if I could get the frameset for that price in my local market
