Giro Empire SLX sizing question.

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giro Empire SLX sizing question.

So I can't find the Giro Empire SLX anywhere in my size, so I have to order them online. I didn't find any recent sizing thread about this. I'd appreciate every input on sizing, especially compared to Mavics / Bonts.

My feet are 257mm long, standard width, low volume. I wear 41 1/3 in mavics (zxellium), 42 in Bonts (vayport sprint). I had a very short period with Sidi Genius Fit in 41.5. I tried on the giro prolight slx (2013) in a store and the 41.5 seemed to be good, but was just a little bit roomier than my mavics (which is not necessarily a bad thing).

Thanks!

Just take this as a data point.. I wear a size 49 Sidi and a size 49 Giro Empire ACC (which I would guess is similar to the SLX from fit standpoint). Non cycling shoes I wear size 14 athletic (eg. running or skate) shoes, and wear a size 13 dress shoe.

Thanks. Any notes on fit differences? Width? Tightness? Heel cup?

None that are relevant probably.. My Sidis are about 13yrs old, the Giros are from last year. I wouldn't want you to draw conclusions on today's shoes from me comparing these 2 pairs from different decades. I figured basic size was probably safe to compare though.

Similar experience here - had a pair of Sidi Genius circa 2007 in a 44.5; my first generation Giro Empires are also 44.5. Since I don't have the sidis anymore, just anecdotally, the empires are slightly roomier.

I wear a size 11 US shoe and prefer a 46 in the Giro Empires. I have crammed my feet into a 45 Shimano R321 and 45.5 Giro Republics, but prefer size 46 in a bike shoe for the extra room.
