What would you choose?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What would you choose?

If you had a $2,000 budget and a choice between: Scott Speedster 1 with Ultegra or a Scott CR1 team with 105. What would you choose?: I went with the CR1, thinking I could always ungrade the components later on.

Why would you not choose ultegra?

I see you point if you are just going to upgrade straight to Dura Ace like I'm going to do.

The reason too not choose Ultegra in this situation was to get a "better" frame. If you like the feel of the carbon frame as compared to the aluminum, then you made the right choice. If you could not tell the difference in feel, then the aluminum bike would be better because you would have better components for less money.

cr1 for sure. 105 is good stuff, later you can upgrade...centaur, chorus, record, etc.
