How to measure for replacement brakes?
I have a couple of bikes. One is an old (probably 1980-1983) Raleigh Olympian. Nothing special, but I like it.
I had it repaired a couple of years ago and the bike shop installed a brake that really did not fit the bike properly (pads do not align on rim correctly).
I would like to purchase a decent quality inexpensive brake for the rear. the bike came with Weinmann centerpull brakes. It looks like most of what is available today for roadbikes are sidepull. I was thinking about the Shimano Ultegra 6600s which I can buy for about $70.
I was not sure if these would fit properly, how to measure/size ... etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a middle of the road brake that would do the trick?

Look for brakes that are labeled "long reach". Check out www.harriscyclery.com--I know they have a couple options on there.
