FTP testing with BSX Insight device?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

FTP testing with BSX Insight device?

Does anyone have any experience with the BSX Insight device? Is this a reliable product to measure one's FTP? If so, what all is involved (maintaining certain power level for certain period and increasing?) and how long does the whole process take?

That's measuring oxygen in your leg muscles, or claiming to; it has nothing to do with FTP. Perhaps it can tell you your LTHR, I'm not sure, but that's a different thing than your FTP.

Seems dubious.

Another company, Moxy, makes a similar product. All I know for sure is that ANT+ doesn't support this kind of data, so cadence is re-used and becomes muscle oxygen level. Presumably if you run a power meter at the pedal or crank, this could be a problem.

I think the jury is still out on this. Power meters were a brand new technology at one point and people were skeptical; this muscle oxygen stuff hasn't proved its worth yet for cyclists. I wouldn't invest in one.

You can infer one from the other, but they're really meant to be used in tandem, but, yeah, it's LTHR tracking that you can pull other information from. Testing is working at increasing power level intervals looking at how muscle oxygenation reacts.

I've seen them in use, it's kind of interesting. You either need a specific reason to want to track it though, or be at a point where that level of detail is needed. I know I don't need to be that exact in my training; I wouldn't improve any faster with one. Not sure if I even have the physiology to ever get to that point in training where it becomes fully useful.

I have one, have not used it yet - maybe this week :-)
The idea is to measure lactate. The traditional method was figure prick while working out. If it works I think this is very useful. How my kid deals with lactic acid tells a lot more than HR or power or VO2 to me at least.
