Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New Mavic disc wheelset, upgrade or not?

Hi all and happy easter!
Just wondering If this wheelset is a good upgrade for my sirrus carbon flatbar?
https://www.merlincycles.com/mavic-k...set-84418.html
My stock wheels are heavy(axis 1) think its like 2300g and I want better wheels.
Bought my bike on sale for less than 1K and am not feeling comfy spending more than half of that on a wheel upgrade.
I dont find any info on this new Mavics so maybe somebody here has tried it??
Is there any other disc wheelset I should look at in that pricerange up til 550$ or 400£?
Ill find it hard to find good deals in that pricerange.

Thanks

I would personally not buy a Mavic product. Seem very overpriced for what they are, and completely proprietary. November Nimbus Ti disc? That is the disc wheelset I personally want. That said, many have had good luck with Mavic (and some haven't), so YMMV.

You'll probably have a tough time getting feedback on those wheels mostly for their newness but also because they're disc's. Most of us are riding traditional rim brakes on our "road" bikes although disc's are making a surge in popularity. That Merlin link lists them at 180 grams which is obviously a typo and I'd assume they're 1,800 grams which is 500g less than what you have now so I'd venture to guess that they'd wake up your ride somewhat. Dropping 500 grams for around $300 is a tough task on any bike so the deal seems like a value in that respect but who knows how they'll hold up?
