Why did everything change going to a red bike?
I have ridden bikes of different colors, but now that I am riding a red bike everything has changed. I nod to other riders and they nod back. I smile, they smile back. AND I wave, sometimes just raise my pinky off the hoods, and I get a wave in return. Are red bikes the "in" to acceptance into the elite cyclist club? Wish I had known this year's ago. I even rode an orange bike for a while. I noticed I almost got waves, and nods returned. Now that I am on an unmistakable red bike, I feel like I belong. It's a great feeling.

The smiling and waving is because they think you are nice. Red bikes are so much faster, people are surprised you are going at a slow and courteous speed.

I forgot to mention my avg. speed is up 2mph. I am capturing KOMS and getting kudos on Strava. I have an excel spread sheet that documents the change, just don't know how to post it h er e.

I considered red but felt it too much responsibility for me after only riding for less than a year. Red is for cyclist who have logged millions of miles, like something that has to be earned.

Maybe it is because of how you fold your Not Bibs?

That's so weird! When I started riding a flat black bike, I STOPPED waving at people and started wearing eyeliner. And no one will make eye contact with me. Small children just start crying as I run into them on the MUP, whereas, with my old red bike, they would laugh and giggle as they hit the tarmac. And when I DROPE THE HAMER I leave a contrail of broken crabon dust behind me!
I have no idea what's going on. Could it be my new chamois cream?

I finished second in a race to Larry Shields when he was Junior National champion. I raced against Greg Lemond when he was but 14. And I took down Olympic champion Mark Gorski in a miss n out. A long and storied career. I've earned the right to ride red.

5K post on BF is also a must. Keep on posting, I've heard at 10K post you can legitimately run aero bars on your red bike.
