Crying in my beer

Well, I got the call I was dreading today :(

I'm 43 days into a 90 day wait for my Felt F2C and my LBS just called... They just got off the line with Felt and apparently all back ordered bikes that were scheduled to be delivered and June and July are being indefinately delayed (no projected (or even bogus Felt based) delivery date in August or September).

I put money down back in March and because of that the LBS is willing to keep my $2399 purchase price agreement (as Felt increased the price in early April to $2599 with no advanced warning for bikes yet to be delivered). I'm kind of bummed as I've been dreaming about riding it this summer although with all of the bad pub on the forum I can't say I'm surprised... I told the LBS that I'm going to wait my order out - he said that once parts come in they might release bikes in August or September as 06 models (and if others start to mass cancel orders who knows...). My hope is that they maintain or upgrade the specs for the 06 model so that with patience I can still get a good deal instead of waiting all year just to cancel my order if they downgrade the specs on the bike (man I wish I could have got that American Classic wheelset).

Bummer! No advice. I don't know what I'd do. If you have a bike and are riding now maybe waiting is a good idea. If you don't have a bike or there is one you would like as much maybe the LBS would work with you on somewthing else.

Keep us posted on the evolution.

Got a bike now and was just looking for some forum sympathy instead of advice (no "hey, what's your favorite carbon bike for $2500"). The Felt was an upgrade/present to myself which is why I'm not totally bummed out or bitter like many of the prior Felt posts. The LBS has been very cool and straight forward with me but it still stinks and has made it hard for me to concentrate at work. Mabye I should just consider my down payment an installment on a Christmas present...

I think it's a male thing. It drives my wife crazy. She'll tell me of a problem she's having and I have to try to fix it.

Anyway, be prepared for later posters (likely of male gender) to offer advice.

So, from the feminine side of me I'll just say, "Gee, I'm sorry." :D

The obvious question is - do you have something else to ride in the meantime?

I feel for you brother. One year ago at this time, I was working on a deal for a frame that I'd hoped would get built and ridden by the end of summer. The deal got done and I decided I wanted to get it painted while I acquired the rest of the components. Here it is 10 months later, and I'm still waiting on the paint. It's an even odds bet I'll get to ride it before this summer is over.

Getting something you really want does take some sacrifice but in the end, hopefully, it will be worth it. Good luck.

sorry... no mass-produced bike is worth a six-month wait. you're not getting custom; you're getting generic carbon fiber. it's a nice spec at a nice price, but you're letting either your lbs or felt make six months of interest on your investment.

find a bike from a manufacturer who can deliver on time.

Thanks and yeah I've got an Allez A1.

When I got the call I actually thought of you and the paint job but didn't mention it in my thread (no need to be bitter or try to console myself at someone else's expense as I realize I'm not the only one who's ever waited on a bike). I looked at a number of bikes this spring but my limit is $2500 - I know if I could go up to $2750 or 3K there'd be loads of additional options but family, pedals, 3rd bike computer, etc and you get the idea...

That blows man.

Good luck waiting it out you're a stronger man than I. I just cancelled my Performance order because they can't give me an honest answer about when my parts (Shimano) will be in.

Good luck, the first ride will be sooooooo much better when you finally get it.
