Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yup, ebay. I happened to be looking fora 500 recently, and working used ones have been going for less than $120 recently (auction format). I don't know if that's "cheap" to you, but there you go. Also, there are plenty of phone apps that will have some of the functionality of dedicated GPS'.

My 200 is all I "need" and then some. Sure, you can't add anything and you must rely on GPS data alone... but I like what it is. To each their own.

You can get a refurbed edge 500 for peanuts. I bought min refurbished for $100 > 2 years ago and it still works great. You can probably get it bundled with the heart rate strap for that price now.

I got a refurbed 310xt for $150ish, iirc. I wanted the running function too, so it made sense. The price had actually gone back up when I pulled the trigger. You can definitely get good deals on them.

Edit; I just checked and they're as low as $82 on eBay right now. Who'd be without at that price?

If a warranty isn't a big deal, there are lots of good deals online. The sources are overseas and Garmin don't honor warranties because the sellers violate their agreements with Garmin.

I'm surprised they're still worth that much. Maybe I can get something for my 800 after all.

Hell, non working parts ones were going for $50+, and I have absolutely no idea why.

Bryton 310 is great. I love mine. Pairs to Garmin sensors faster and more reliably than the old Garmin 500 did.

I bought a Garmin Etrex about 9 years ago. It has been through hell. Used on my bike and dirt bikes and still works

For the price they're great. Only niggles is it could be a bit easier to get rides into Strava, but not really any worse than a Edge 500.

Is the mount compatible with Garmin mounts?

Sold by 800 to a riding buddy after he kept bugging me to do so. Bought a 1000 from Performance on a triple day and between my sell price and points made all my 800 original purchase back.

My 1000 has been rock solid but the 800 even more so.+

I just got a used 200 on Ebay for $50. More data than a non-racer like myself will ever need.

you can easily find a used Edge 500 on Facebook in one of the Tri or Road groups used for selling used bikes/parts for less than $100 if you look around...

Got an old smartphone? Use that and a phone holder. I run a wireless hotspot from my regular phone.
