low sitting bottle cages?
Hi. Below is my titanium cyclocross frame, which I use for bike packing and distance riding.
I like having the larger frame bag but it is a pain to use bottles due to clearance. Does anyone know of bottle cage that the mounting bolts are higher up, thus bringing the cage lower? https://dgtzuqphqg23d.cloudfront.net...-2048x1536.jpg Thank! |
Behind the saddle and on the down tube worked for me.

I don't know of a cage that does what you want, but I use a side release cage successfully. I have a similar issue as you.

Lyzene make left and right handed side loading water bottle cages
I have a set and really like the functionality. |
Specialized Zee cage is also side release as well, both left and right and in multiple colors. Like red. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. The side release is an option I will look into. The only issue is its a very tight squeeze to get the bottle to fit under the bag so lowering the cage is the best option right now. I'm going to try to find a cage that has a larger base plate that maybe I can drill to make it work.
--------------------------------------------------------------------- update: I think I found the solution: http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server28...0.1280.jpg?c=2 It is side release and appears to have the ability of mounting lower. |
I am not sure that is a side release cage. This is the offering from Specialized. Had it on my fixed gear.

I moved my bottles with Shimano Di2 cage adapters - seat tube down so a 25oz bottle cleared my frame pump, down tube up to clear the lower seat tube bottle. They include optional spacers so you can even clear a clamp-on front derailleur.

I checked out a pair of the composite Lezyne side loading ones and they held on so tight that it was crushing the bottle and I didn't see how I'd be able to easily get it out on the go. After some searching I got the Arundel Sideloader and Othersideloader which I believe only come in carbon BUT have two mounting holes. This worked out well since I needed a little extra room for bottles mainly for the seattube mount because of my frame bag. Let me know and I can post a picture if you'd like one.
