Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, I think weight-weenieism is definitely a symptom of OCP, but that's just me. You should seek further diagnosis from the higher-up's. Good luck and May The Force Be With You.

My Road Bike has a bike cover over it in the house.

If you enjoy riding through strip mall parking lots, so that you can see your "rolling profile" in the reflection of the shop windows, does that make you OCP?

It is possible to be both OCP and a Weight Weenie, though one usually dominates over the other.

If you miss the cute girls pointing at you from the other side of the windows, then yes, you are OCP.

I forgot to ask, and no one mentioned...

To be fully OCP, do I need to remove, or at least change my sig????

I also forgot to add, I bought the tires I have because the blue in them goes with the blue in my frame.

If I had the loot, this is the watch I'd pose with while cruising around on the OCP bike:

Tag Heuer Monaco 69 (over $5,000)

Looks like the advent of the JOCP has brought on a new resurgence in the OCP.
Now we both got flashy logos.

Glad to advance the poser movement!

Gotta add another OCP trait: The deciding factor in buying a sports drink flavor, is which one best color-matches your bike.

Wd 40,

It's funny you mention that. Ask FormulaBen and Gonesh9 what happened to me during the STP when we stopped at a rest stop for Gatorade. I got some major points.

Is there a mtb OCP club? I think there is because I saw three highly potential members at the coffee shop this morning. Nice matching clothes that went well with their bikes. Very nice mtb bikes. I did have a problem with the CamelBak water backpacks.

has anybody ever been kicked out of the 'OCP Club'--for a serious offense?

like choosing a campy alu crank instead of carbon?

helmet doesn't match the kit? Shoes don't match the kit? etc

bike weighs over 16lbs?

member caught riding a comfortable saddle, or non-plastic saddle?

member doesn't have at least 10cm saddle to bar drop?

etc, etc

just wonderin'

I should apply for membership just so I can find all the ways to get booted!

Come on George, you know Zig just likes coming up with anything to add to this thread to bump it up to the top and keep it alive.

I mean, look at his list....it's just silly:

has anybody ever been kicked out of the 'OCP Club'--for a serious offense?

I don't have a carbon crank and I'm as OCP as they come. In fact,
Hello.
My name is Hipcycler, and I ride a triple....gasp! That's right.

helmet doesn't match the kit? Shoes don't match the kit? etc
Well, this is just plain wierd. Who would ever leave the house like this?

bike weighs over 16lbs?
Come on now...

member caught riding a comfortable saddle, or non-plastic saddle?
Caught? There is no OCP police force.

member doesn't have at least 10cm saddle to bar drop?
This may be a violation at 53-11's pretend Top Gun School of Cycling, but not here.

Speaking of OCP violations, over in Foo is yet another discussion about wearing underwear with your cycling shorts. The Underwear Nazi is on top of things but I'm amazed that this type of thing still occurs.

No underwear, never, never, never with your cycling shorts. The only exception is when you are in full Superman kit, and even then the underwear is worn OUTSIDE the tights.

Hi Hip...Zig is being contrarian to prove a point. If you are in the other camp...or no camp...you just like to ride a nice road bike...a celebration of the bicycle with no strings attached. As a refreshing change I really like seeing an average guy on a city street corner in a tee shirt on a vintage drop bar 10 speed. To me thats cool. You guys like to permeate the board with your OCP stuff...as tongue and cheek as you proclaim and rejoiners are inevitable...many of which are tongue and cheek right back.
Whether its bad or good I guess is for you to decide but the NOCP guys will likely pass you in the group ride.

No, no, no--it's nothing like that, all those guys (OCP) are serious, dedicated cyclists.

And I get it--self deprecating humor is always a good thing, but there's only so far you can take it before it becomes absurd.

None of this "who is faster" "who is whatever" "who has a bling bike"--please. The reason I put the NOCP image in my sig was to say I'm interested in cycling, and not everyone interested in cycling is interested in making a clique, or joining a club--bikeforums.net is the club, and everyone here is a member. There's no NOCP "guys" or "group", or whatever.

...passing in a group ride was meant as a metaphor Zig...not literally and please note the winked eye. There are some very fast OCP guys that like to have their make up match their hose. The amount of people that ride bikes in general without OCP vices are the vast majority...what I meant.
