I'm really ticked that my clip on sunglasses are up to $15 at Walgreens.
I slurged on a $50 long sleeve jersey. First time riding it I get caught in a pavement expansion joint. Teetered, caught my balance, almost went down. All I thought about was how I could have trashed that jersey. $50 is a small fortune to me for an article of clothing.

An awesome post-ride shirt for the fashionista.. and it's 100% cotton. Not any cheap synthetic.

Cheaper than most current Oakley offerings, cheaper than most current POC offerings... and those seem to be the two sunglasses brands I see most.
I might have to pick up some of these before everyone else catches on. I'm tired of seeing only jawbreakers and half blades.

Don't feel bad. I've worked with a lot of Masters prepared people who don't write as well as my kids did in 10th grade. I'm not saying I agree with the critique of your writing, just that a master's degree counts for jack squat when it comes to writing skill. A good high school or college teacher who demands efficiency and clarity is much more important.
As for this STUPID topic, taking yet another tack on "he's not worthy" or "he doesn't know value" issue....
Sheesh, people on these forums really are hung up on what others should look like, who's worthy of respect, who's worthy of buying certain gear, and now, evidently, that the only value that clothing has (workout or other) is strictly utilitarian. No value for style or status at all? Most economists would disagree with you.
People buy expensive things because they like them and can afford them. They like them for many reasons, among which are utility, color, fit, fashion, brand recognition and maybe just because it was in front of them the instant they realized they wanted something like it. That's all totally rational, regardless of what the engineers and academics on the web think.

This may be biased because i do live on the same street as Rapha Soho but I've only bought one thing from them and that was the best cycling jacket I have ever worn. I was very happy this winter

Not everybody who buys expensive things can afford them, but that is their business, not mine. And you left out the part about liking expensive things just because they are expensive. That is a fact that is well understood just about everywhere except on internet forums it seems, where the notion is vehemently denied. Of course these days, maybe that means it is understood nowhere important at all.
I read it on the internet....

Was in downtown Manhattan yesterday and passed through SoHo. I looked up and there was a Ralpha store so my son and i went in. But we immediately realized it was full of tourists buying expensive tee shirts and paraphernalia. So we decided to pass. I guess we're just Pearl Izumi people.
yeah, son, look at these fat tourist buying overpriced stuff
You: not us, now lets get out here and go and look at my bikes..
son: "yeah, you don't look fat at all"

I'm not fat, i'm "big boned".
The problem is... i ride.
It's like me buying expensive ski cloths when I don't ski.
