For the lucky bald folks

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For the lucky bald folks

I've always wondered have any of you ever been able to get a tan on your head matching the vents on your helmet? I try every year, but I just don't think we get enough sun in Chicago.

My forehead gets a noticeable helmet-vent tan line.

I did an 80 miler on a nice sunny day, never even thought to wear the beanie under the helmet. Had a significant tan in the pattern of the helmet vents for the entire week afterward. The wife was not pleased.

Currently, from the constant use of fingerless gloves on the bike, my hands are about 10 shades lighter than my forearms. I look like I've had hand transplants.

Aww yes, very lucky man here.

We definitely get enough sun here in Phoenix for it. I shave my head with a half guard which I imagine is just long enough to keep the sun at bay.

Partially bald is the worst: you don't want sunscreen in your hair, for sure. Thus always a cycling cap. My arms are the same color as my hands because I still want to live a lot longer, so I use sun sleeves on my arms and lots of sunscreen on my legs, face, and neck. A dark tan is not a badge of honor.

I wear a beanie under my helmet. I don't want that kind of tan line.
