Click with every revolution
 

Today on my ride I start hearing a click with every revolution. Going down hill peddling no click ,so it is under resistance. Any ideas? I am doing a store ride Saturday I could leave the bike when we finish. Unless someone as a idea about it and I can look.Hope that is enough information. I am a 67 year old new road bike rider.

There are several things it could be, but unless you have bottom bracket tools, a pedal wrench, spare pedals and grease, I'd just ignore it until your shop takes the bike after your ride. If you have a 5mm Allen, check your chainring bolts, and depending on your crank check whatever major bolt(s) hold the crankarms together, but otherwise nothing is going to blow up in the next couple days. If this is The shop you bought the bike from, this is part of the reason they offer a break in tune up period.

bottom bracket

The usual culprits are a loose rear skewer or the chain ring bolts. Chain ring bolts should be installed to the proper torque with no grease on the outside (just a miniscule amount on the threads is OK). Pedals can be the issue too.

Whenever you start to hear a click, pull over and tighten your rear wheel skewer.

It could be the crank arm hitting the front derailleur cable each time around. Usually would only happens when in the small chain ring up front so can make sense it would happen uphill and not downhill.

Thank all you people for the replies. I have more than enough to check. But tomorrow I will be at the shop. Someone said it won't blow up in 2 days so that is good to know. Thanks again folks

chain catcher hitting the crank

I have a bike with BB30 bottom bracket, well known for creaking and ticking. Recently I thought I was going to have to replace the bearings. Turned out I solved it by removing my pedals, cleaning the threads, greasing and reinstalling to proper torque. I also wiped down and oiled my chain (which was overdue).

Silence. Golden silence.

Moral: Don't over-complicate it. Do the easy stuff first.

Check your saddle too - I've seen guys chase noises like this for months only to realize their saddle was creaking.

you hit the bike metronome lottery. Every thousand bike sold that has press fit, clicks on every pedal stroke.
Sorry OP old/bike newbie, an inside 41 joke. Clicking + press fit BB's are ubiquitous.
