ENVE Aero Road Bars

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ENVE Aero Road Bars

Just purchased the ENVE SES aero road bars as they seem to have the best combo of everything I want (a nice flat top aero section, 80ish reach, shallow drop, nice drop curvature). However, the flare and angle of wrists at the drops that I like is also a cause for possible concern that I overlooked. With the drops at 44cm (perfect size for me), the hoods are going to be at 39cm.

I’m currently used to my existing Cinelli Neo Morphe’s which are 44cm at the drops and 42cm at the hoods. Just wondering if that extra 3cm of going narrow at the hoods might be uncomfortable over longer rides.

From a vanity perspective, I’m excited at the thought of these bars matching nicely with my 6.7’s.

Any thoughts or feedback on these bars would be most appreciated.

The bar looks great overall- I love flat tops and short-reach bars. I have the Zipp SL-70s. Slightly shorter reach and the hoods are spaced wider than the Enves. The hoods at 39cm would be a huge no-go for me. I am on the hoods most of the time. I like the flared out drops but for me, I need close to 44 cm at the hoods.

Can't say except that it's a big difference. I'll also say I got a set of Enve road bars recently and they're more comfortable than I expected. Did not get the SES bars because I have hydraulic disc brakes.

I passed on them due to the 44cm vs 39cm difference you noted even though I'm a huge Enve fan (at least pre-Mavic). I tend to ride mostly on the hoods and wanted them wider. I have the FSA K-wings on two bikes and like them a lot. Nice flat section on the top, shallow drop, less flare than Enve's etc....

I started riding mid 2014 and bought an Émonda with a 40cm bar. I stopped riding for a whole year then started again last January. 2 months ago, I finally replaced it with the SES Aero bar - 40cm at the drop, 35cm at the hood, really narrow. So far, no discomfort. I feel like it should've been the right size for me from the beginning. For what it's worth, I'm short and ride a 50cm.
